Is the plan really free?
Yes! When you subscribe, you’ll only receive occasional updates from The Luminous. I do not share my mailing list with others. Ever. The only item I sell is The Luminous Cookbook, the purchase of which is totally optional.
Why is it free?
When I started this journey I was surprised to see how much some weight loss programs cost, and how many prey upon one’s desperation. Similar programs package information that is already out there, do some brilliant marketing and are making millions of dollars, and in my opinion, taking advantage of vulnerable people. So I took what I learned (which was FREE) and started The Luminous. I’ve never done those high priced programs, but have heard from others some of what goes on, and it’s just not my jam. There is no hidden upsell here for programs to buy or support groups to join (ours is free). No one should ever feel taken advantage of or like they’re joining a cult!
How fast can I expect to lose weight?
It really depends on how much you have to lose and what your eating habits were like before. I believe it’s important to focus on getting your frame of mind and the food right, and the body will follow. Within the first few weeks I lost very quickly (26 lbs in 8 weeks). If you stick with the plan, you can expect to lose an average of 2-3 pounds a week. But this will vary.
I have Hashimoto’s, do I need to modify anything on the plan?
There are some with Hashi’s who fare better doing AIP (Auto-Immune Protocol). The beauty of this plan is you can modify it accordingly. If you’re doing AIP, you simply eliminate foods such as grain and legumes. Some choose to do the plan grain-free, dairy-free, vegan or vegetarian. As long as you are eating the recommended amounts, you can modify according to your needs or preference. If you search the blog, you’ll also find info on what I’ve learned about thyroid issues. I was able to go into remission without doing AIP, but some find they need to eliminate those foods in order to feel better.
Is there a difference with the plan you have available for free versus the plan in the cookbook?
The only difference is the cookbook has a complete food list in each category plus information on maintenance once you reach your goal. When I started, I found it annoying to calculate all of the portions out using recipes. When using these recipes, the “math” is done so you don’t have to worry about it. It’s definitely not a “must have” for the plan to work, but many find it makes cooking easier with more variety. If you have a family, your family will actually eat this (ain’t no rabbit food!😜). With purchase, you are automatically on the list to get all new editions free, unless you opt out. Currently we’re up to over 95 recipes. Sidenote: I’ve also gotten letters from people in 12 step programs telling me that most of the recipes work for them as well, so if you’re working the steps this will work in tandem. The cookbook works for anyone wishing to eat sugar and and flour free.
Do you offer one on one support?
I may offer this in the future if the demand is there. Right now, I offer support via the A-Team. I also try and respond to every email via the Contact page.
I’m not on Facebook, can I still join your support group, The A-Team?
The A-Team is a secret Facebook support group, and therefore you need to have a Facebook account. Some members in the past have chosen to open a Facebook account solely for the A-team and set their account to be “un-searchable” or set it up under a different name. If you choose to do this, you simply need to let me know what email you are using.
Do you sell your mailing list? I don’t like Spam.
No! And I never will. Your information is kept private and the only time you receive an email is when there is a new blog post or a new update on the plan or cookbook. Occasionally I might crow about a few products I use which, if you choose to buy, I might get a little coffee money from places like Amazon, but you don’t pay more. Any money I receive this way goes to support this site versus cluttering the pages with ads. And I only talk about items I use and recommend.
